Label and placeholder on html date fields

Topic: Label and placeholder on html date fields

Expected behavior Label replaces default placeholder on empty dates in Chrome and Firefox

Actual behavior Label and placeholder are shown on top of each other

This is working fine if I use input type='text' and .datepicker, but I really need the functionallity of type='date' to set the date value using ISO-format and have the date shown to the user in browsers local format.

The problem seems to be browser related. It works well on Safari in iOS and Chrome on Android, but it does not work on Chrome or Firefox on my Windows 10 Desktop.
