Buffer.alloc() deprecated

Topic: Buffer.alloc() deprecated

covetech pro asked 7 years ago

I keep getting this error when I run \'Yarn Install\': (node:98746) [DEP0005] DeprecationWarning: Buffer() is deprecated due to security and usability issues. Please use the Buffer.alloc(), Buffer.allocUnsafe(), or Buffer.from() methods instead. Any idea?

Hi there covetech,

Welcome to the Support Board! Could you provide your setup (operating system / node version / node package manager version)? If the issue is the depreciation note (terminal output) and not a yarn malfunction (meaning yarn-related tasks not completing, throwing back errors), then the issue you are experiencing may be caused by the new (>node v.10) Buffer API, and should be fixed soon by the yarnpkg team.

With Best Regards,
Kuba

Kuba, Was this fixed? Is there an update that I need to download? Thanks, Mike

Hi there, If I am not mistaken, the issue is a Yarn-related one, and as such it regards an utility outside of our jurisdiction. I suggest directing any release-cycle related questions to the Yarn developer team directly. With Best Regards, Kuba
