We have been struggling with this also. We have had a few layout/styling problems but the main issue is that we really need the ajax support provided by Select2. We have come up with a workable styling solution that fits nicely with MDB so I thought I would share incase it helps others.

NOTE: We are using Select2 version 4.0.3. Just include this css file after the default Select2 css and initialise select2 with theme: "material"

We need a good flexible select in our project and your select solution is not good enough. We have spent weeks trying to make it work the way we want and we eventually gave up and started using Select2.
Now I have to spend time on styling and validation. Not happy. You have been getting requests for 2 years now to implement a better select solution. Please follow through.

Currently, we're not planning to support Select2 since we have our own Material Select. We do also have a long list with tasks that will make our select component even better and we're doing our best to deliver them as soon as possible

I think we've waited long enough, 3 years is a long time to wait!

We're not planning to migrate from our Material Select to Select 2 in the nearest future

Can you at least support remote data loading via ajax?
Bartłomiej Malanowski staff pro premium commented 5 years ago
I've added this to our TODO list
