Support for jQuery Select2

Topic: Support for jQuery Select2

Hello, Support for the select2 (https://select2.github.io/) would be nice. I want to build a search-as-you-type and this would be really helpful. Thanks in advance. Greets Robert

We have been struggling with this also. We have had a few layout/styling problems but the main issue is that we really need the ajax support provided by Select2. We have come up with a workable styling solution that fits nicely with MDB so I thought I would share incase it helps others.

NOTE: We are using Select2 version 4.0.3. Just include this css file after the default Select2 css and initialise select2 with theme: "material"

Hi, Robert! We already have a similar component. Take a look at material select

Hello Bartlomiej, I need something like this https://select2.github.io/examples.html#data-ajax. Greets Robert

Currently, we don't have similar functionality in our material-select plugin yet. It's already on my TODO list

Hello Bartlomiej, I am also looking forward to the same functionality. Can you provide me an approximate timeline for its availability? Thanks. Best, Tushar

Bartłomiej Malanowski staff pro premium answered 8 years ago

It's hard to say. It's still on our TODO list

Tushar Dave pro answered 8 years ago

Thanks, Bartlomiej. I am hoping to see it soon. I am in immediate need of that functionality, but it's ok. I will figure out another way.

Would also be happy to see an integration with select2.

Any updates about select2 support? I wold also like to see an select2 integration.

pro answered 7 years ago

yes it is very annoying that I have to mess with this, since select2 is crucial for our pages!!!

dsuciu answered 6 years ago

We need a good flexible select in our project and your select solution is not good enough. We have spent weeks trying to make it work the way we want and we eventually gave up and started using Select2.

Now I have to spend time on styling and validation. Not happy. You have been getting requests for 2 years now to implement a better select solution. Please follow through.

Currently, we're not planning to support Select2 since we have our own Material Select. We do also have a long list with tasks that will make our select component even better and we're doing our best to deliver them as soon as possible

I think we've waited long enough, 3 years is a long time to wait!

We're not planning to migrate from our Material Select to Select 2 in the nearest future

Can you at least support remote data loading via ajax?

Bartłomiej Malanowski staff pro premium commented 5 years ago

I've added this to our TODO list
