Topic: Pro version npm instructions are so unclear, here's how to npm install Pro packages
stathisntonas asked 6 years ago
Since npm i
instructions are unclear and caused me 3 hours trying to figure out, here's how to do it:
- From this page , follow the instructions to generate a new SSH key pair. If you want to test the SSH key, run the following when everything is set up:
ssh -T git@git.mdbootstrap.com
and notssh -T git@gitlab.com
as stated in that page. You should get back aWelcome to GitLab, @yourname!
- Head to your profile page in
mdbootstrap gitlab page
- Click on your profile icon on top right and click settings, then navigate to Access Tokens page (direct link)
- Put a name for your access token, leave expire date empty if you wish, check all 3 boxes then click on
Create Personal Access Token
button. - Copy the generated token and paste it into package.json like: (in my case, React Pro)
"mdbreact":"git+https://oauth2:<HERE GOES THE TOKEN YOU COPIED FROM ACCESS TOKENS PAGE>@git.mdbootstrap.com/mdb/react/re-pro.git"
Then everything should work fine!

Do you have any ideas about what can we do to make our installation guide more understandable?
stathisntonas commented 6 years ago
I guess all it takes is to correct step 1 in gitlab and add step 3 & 4 to the guide.
Thanks for your reply!

Thanks, I bought this about 2 months ago and I could never use it because it was so complicated.

You’re welcome, it’s been a month and instructions are still not updated!

@Andre Camargo what's the problem? Please tell us which step is too complicated so I'll explain it ;)

I spent a few minutes reading through the instructions, got that feeling that this was going to take longer than expected, and was very lucky to stumble upon this comment early - thanks for this.
