Topic: Configure Bootstrap style vs Material style

Mark Boyce asked 4 years ago

I designed my website using MDB Free version and the styles it used were Bootstrap design. This fit the layout and spacing and styling as I wanted it.

However, I upgraded to the Pro version because I needed a few components that was only available in Pro edition. Once I purchased it, I went through the upgrade steps mentioned in the link below. https://mdbootstrap.com/docs/angular/getting-started/update/

When I did that, I noticed that my theme and layout has changed in many places. The behavior and styles of dropdown, buttons etc are all different. Initially I thought I did something wrong. But after a lot of investigation, I realized the problem is that the theme for Pro version uses Material style than the Bootstrap style in Free version.

The style I see is the one below. https://mdbootstrap.com/docs/angular/components/dropdowns/

Comparing "Default dropdown" and "Material dropdown", it is the difference I'm noticing. Default Dropdown style is the bootstrap one which I saw in Free version. Now I'm seeing the Material Dropdown style after upgrading to Pro version.

Is there anyway I can configure the dropdown to apply Bootstrap style? I don't want to custom style all the components just to enforce bootstrap theme. That will be a tedious process. Is there an option in the config of the components where I can set which theme it should use?

It is not possible to switch between non-material and material styles, but in this case standard dropdown should have slightly different styles than material dropdown even if you use pro version.

Can you edit your post and add the code you used to render the dropdown and provide more information about problems in other components?

Please see my post below. I have provided code and screenshots explaining the difference I'm seeing.
